T42 ELD is the logging device built by Trucking42 for the owner-operators and small fleets we dispatch every day. One tap sends your logs to the officer. Nobody — not you, not your carrier, not us — can erase driving time.
Freightliner, Volvo, Kenworth, Peterbilt, International, Mack and more. PT30, PT40 and IOSiX gateways. 9-pin, 6-pin and 16-pin diagnostic ports. Android and iOS.
No installer, no wiring. The gateway plugs into the diagnostic port; the app does the rest.
Engine off. The port is under the dashboard, by your left knee: 9-pin on most trucks, 16-pin on Volvo and Mack, 6-pin on older trucks. IOSiX plugs straight in — twist to lock.
Wait for the light. PT30 and PT40 glow green and stay steady. IOSiX blinks green and blue. That means the gateway reads your engine.
Android or iOS. Log in with your own Driver ID, then tap your gateway's name in Connect ELD — it is on the sticker, like PT30_5DE3. The app pairs itself; no Bluetooth settings to dig through.
Truck stopped
Truck moving
Driving starts on its own when the truck moves. Change status when you stop, certify your day with one tap, and show or send your logs when an officer asks.
Drive left, shift, cycle and break on one screen. The timeline shows when to take your 30 and when you must stop — before you plan the next load, not after.
Tap DOT inspection, pick Web service or Email, tap Send. The officer gets today plus the previous 7 days in the standard FMCSA file. No signal? Hand over the tablet in Inspection Mode — nothing on that screen can be changed.
Driving recorded by the truck is locked. Edits create a new entry and keep the original with your note. Your carrier can suggest a fix; only you can accept it. Every back-office action is written to an audit log we cannot edit.
“I hereby certify that my data entries and my record of duty status for this 24-hour period are true and correct.”
Review Jul 12 log ›The bell reminds you. The app shows your on-duty, driving and miles, the exact FMCSA certification statement, and two buttons. Changed something later? It asks you to sign again.
We have built and tested T42 ELD to 49 CFR Part 395, Appendix A, and submitted it to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Until FMCSA adds it to the Registered ELD list, T42 ELD must not be used as your ELD for hours-of-service compliance (49 CFR 395.22(a)). We will publish the result here and email everyone on the early-access list the same day.
Questions about registration status: [email protected].
Planned pricing. Same price whether you dispatch with Trucking42 or not; no contract. Join early access now — nothing is charged until T42 ELD is on the FMCSA Registered ELD list.

Any model-year-2000-or-newer truck with a 9-pin, 6-pin or OBD-II diagnostic port: Freightliner, Volvo, Kenworth, Peterbilt, International, Mack and more. Older engines without an ECM may be exempt from the ELD rule — call us and we will check.
No. Your carrier can propose a correction with a reason; it stays as a proposal until you accept or reject it in the app. Driving time recorded by the truck cannot be shortened by anyone, including Trucking42.
A red M appears on screen with a letter code. Tell your company in writing within 24 hours, switch to paper logs for today and the previous 7 days, and your company has 8 days to fix or replace it. The exact steps are on page 12 of the manual and inside the app.
Yes. Your old logs stay with your old provider for the required 6 months; we help you export them. Most drivers switch in one afternoon: order the gateway, install the app, log in.
Not since July 2026. Keep the two one-page sheets (how to send logs, what to do on malfunction) and blank paper logs for 8 days. All of them are in the app under DOT inspection → ELD documents.
Join early access. We email you the day FMCSA registers it — no charge before that.
